Mr. Freshwater was not fired because of a Bible on his desk.    :banghead:

I am speaking in general terms. In a national context!  :holysheep:
"demagoguery is a strategy for gaining political power by appealing to the prejudices, emotions, fears and expectations of the public -typically via impassioned rhetoric and propaganda, and often using nationalist, populist or religious themes.

Is there something wrong with what I said?

No, just deleted what I originally posted.  Decided not to get into a pissing match tonight...lol.
Actually, just don't believe that you meant it on a national level is all.
Have a good night.

Thanks mtvernon1805

Paula Barone's message was a wonderful one, one that considers the diversity that exists in the public school setting and one that I expect should be held by anyone voted onto the board of a Public school.

I split off the constitutional discussion from this thread.  It was requested earlier on that this remain about the local elections and their platforms.   Thank you for your cooperation.

I know that a few of us will not vote for Robert Kirk..We all know of him well from years ago at East Knox schools when he was on the board there and when he went to school there. So he won't get votes from none of us that have kids  who go to Mt Vernon City Schools.I do see we have others running againest him.

Maybe you can help me with a couple questions that I need to have clarified.  It is my understanding that Kirk was appointed to the East Knox School Board (wasn't initially voted in) and then when he ran for the position he wasn't voted back into the Board.  Is that correct?

Thanks in advance for the information.

Kirk was a board member at East Knox in my days at the Mount Vernon News. I remember the education reporter interviewing him. I left there in 2003, and I think he was still on the board then.

I believe Watson is a banker.  If so, what bank does he work for?  What bank handle all the Mt. Vernon Schools money?  Is this a problem?

Ian Watson retired from First-Knox National Bank in 2008.

Okay, CM, I'll bite.  Where and how did you get this information?  How do we, go about getting the same information?  I'm interested in the truth and facts.  If you can't come up with truth and facts, I've had enough smoke blown up my rectum for one day.

information?  by asking questions.....I spoke with enough teachers, school personnel and a board member or two to convince me that the problem wasn't with the school board, but with Hashack - can I "prove" it?  of course not - there's nothing to link too - they were "bound" by confidentiality - and I'll respect theirs -

as far as the settlement agreement between the school and Hashack - I provided them with a public records request for the document, and a copy was provided to me - along with copies of certain personnel files germane to the case

Your earlier post suggested some kind of dishonesty being perpetuated by the Board - how about your backing it up with "truth" or "facts" of your own - unless, of course, you too have spoken with teachers, personnel, board members, and pulled files and obtained copies on your own.....

good grief
