It's 1:22 pm and we just rolled back into town from Logansport, In. What a rollercoaster ride the last 2 days have been. It all began when the loser's bracket game on Tuesday night was delayed in the 4th inning for lightning followed by a torrential downpour at 10:45 pm with Wisc leading N. Indiana 5-2. That game was resumed on Wednesday at 4:30 pm.

The loser's bracket game was completed on Wednesday followed by the Championship game which started at 6:00 pm. Wisc was leading that game 2-1 when it was delayed in the 2nd inning, once again, for lightning followed by a 2nd torrential downpour that rendered the field unplayable for the following day. We were notified at 10:00 am that the tournament was being moved to the Lewis Cass High School baseball field which is in Waltonapprox. 15 miles south of Logansport. It was an absolutely magnificient field. It was better than most college fields I have been to.

Play was resumed and by the end of the 3rd inning, Wisc was up 4-1. Wisc played good baseball and Ohio just couldn't get hits to fall and stranded runners on base in several innings. Wisc won the game 8-2. Because this is a double elimination tournament, a second game had to be played to determine the Championship.

That game began about 40 minutes later and, again, Ohio had difficulty getting points on the board. By the end of the 3rd inning, Wisc was leading 3-0. Ohio's pitcher, Alex Arck, got into a rhythm and shut down Wisc's hitters in the 3, 4th and 5th innings. That sparked the hitting and Ohio went on a 6 run rally in the 5th inning to lead 6-3. Ohio added an insurance run in the 6th inning making the score 7-3 before Wisc had it's final rally in the 7th to add 2 runs before they were shut down.

Ohio wins the Ohio Valley Regional Tournament and will now head to Levelland, TX for the Babe Ruth World Series! Way to go Ohio!

That extra stress from a two game playoff might make them stronger.

That extra stress from a two game playoff might make them stronger.

We said that yesterday was a day the team learned they could not only come back from a loss but also that they could come from behind to win a game.  Those games were definitely character building.  But, geez, did they have to do that all in one day   !  Us poor fans were exhausted by the incredible roller coaster ride and we weren't even on the field!  We were doing a lot of this  :please: :please: and screaming our lungs out.

The Regional tournament had some darn good teams and we were lucky to stay in the winner's bracket.  The kids for Wisconsin were solid, scrappy and talented.  We knocked them into the loser's bracket on Monday and they had the tenacity to fight back and give us an incredible fight at the end.  I have no doubt our players learned a great deal from that game about guts and fortitude.

Now I just wish I could come off the high enough to sleep!  Didn't fall asleep until almost 3:30 and now have to get up and work like crazy to catch up in our business!  *sigh*

WOW....congrats to the winning team...yep they learned a lot about winning....fighting for it. what so many teams lack...is learning to stay focused, not get rattled & continue fighting to win even tho things seem to be going bad..THAT is a winning team that will be hard to beat if they continue that way.

seabiscuit..thanks for the update....well done!!

Best to our Ohio team to WIN in Texas!!

The Mt. Vernon News covered both games in today's paper.  The reporter, Rick Conrad, who was covering the games did a great job all week long.  Hats off to him for the great coverage!

Well we dropped the players off at the airport this morning and they should be on their way to Levelland, Tx as I type.  Their first game is Thursday.  My husband is staying home while I fly out on Thursday to catch that first game.  I will provide updates after each game.
