Race pimp supports LeBron, compares him to runaway slave
« on: July 12, 2010, 09:01:23 PM »
Yea, we know even Jesse doesn't believe his own rantings, and he's only looking to get his name in the news and appear relevant, but he's still darn hard to ignore.

Jackson rips Gilbert's LeBron comments

CHICAGO -- Jesse Jackson criticized Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert on Sunday, saying Gilbert sees LeBron James as a "runaway slave" and that the owner's comments after the free-agent forward decided to join the Miami Heat put the player in danger. His feelings of betrayal personify a slave master mentality. He sees LeBron as a runaway slave. This is an owner employee relationship -- between business partners -- and LeBron honored his contract.

Shortly after James announced his decision last week, Gilbert fired off an incendiary letter to Cleveland's fans, ripping the 25-year-old and promising to deliver a title before James wins one. He called James' decision "cowardly" and later told The Associated Press he believes James quit during a handful of Cavaliers playoff games.

"He has gotten a free pass," Gilbert told the AP in a phone interview late Thursday night. "People have covered up for [James] for way too long. Tonight we saw who he really is."

Jackson said Gilbert's comments were "mean, arrogant and presumptuous."

"He speaks as an owner of LeBron and not the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers," the reverend said in a release from his Chicago-based civil rights group, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition. "His feelings of betrayal personify a slave master mentality. He sees LeBron as a runaway slave. This is an owner employee relationship -- between business partners -- and LeBron honored his contract."

Gilbert responded to Jackson's comments on Monday.

"I strongly disagree with Rev. Jesse Jackson's recent comments and we are not going to engage in any related discussion on it. Going forward, we're very excited about the Cavaliers and the positive future of our region," Gilbert said in a statement released by the Cavaliers.

Messages were left Sunday night seeking comment from James.

Jackson also called Gilbert's comments an attack on all NBA players and said the owner should face a "challenge" from the league and the players' association.

NBA spokesman Tim Frank declined comment.

I'd rather slam my nose in a car door. I'd rather have a proctologist named Dr. Hook. I would rather watch Roseanne Barr do a striptease than give up my MVOhio.

I dunno, even Ed has his standards.

Even though it is not required.......

considering all the major changes that Dan Gilbert
has made with the Cavaliers, hopefully benefitting
the team and the fans and LeBron James,

it would seem that James could have, at least,
put in a call to Gilbert prior to the hour news program
announcing his decision and could have shared
his decision with Gilbert in advance.

I should think that it might have softened the
the blow, a bit; instead, Gilbert got hit up side
        the head.

It looks like Lebron was influenced by the "Show" they wanted to put on. Who all had to do with that plan, I do not know.

One of the agreements with James regarding that show was that all the advertising proceeds from that show, $2.5 million, was to be donated to charity.

Very true, but the show was for the future.

It was LeBron's right to leave, I will not debate this point, but the way he handled it was beyond classless. Why would it of been so difficult to tell Dan Gilbert his intentions before airing it on live TV?  Mr. Gilbert did everything humanly possible to bring a championship to Cleveland, going so far as to overspend the salary cap year after year and paying a luxury tax. However the unkindest cut of all was to the Cleveland fans, who worshiped him.  He allowed them to hang for months, before jilting them.  Heck, he even showed his disinterest by putting forth a lackluster effort in his last few games. His legacy in Cleveland will always be that of a quitter.

The less than fine effort at the end does suggest he knew the move was on.

I heard today, the talk is the 3 musketeers probably planned this 3 years ago, as they all insisted on contracts that expired simultaneously.  Here's hoping they fail miserably.

I do agree, their contracts were timed for this.
