HELP!!! What do I do??? lol

My parents are moving and they have a dillema! lol They have a freezer FULL of meat, mostly deer meat, fish, turkey....and so on. The meat has been in the freezer for up to a year. lol They don't want to take any of it to the new house but arent sure of how to dispose of THAT MUCH meat! lol They thought about donating it somewhere, but the problem with that is they have had several power outages through out the time they've had the freezer packed! They lose power VERY easily during storms. And they have been without power for up to 12 hrs before. So they dont know if the food is any good or not. They think it probably IS still good, but dont want to take the chance of donating it and someone getting sick.

They are having movers come TOMORROW! And have to figure something out NOW! lol They dont want to just put it all in a trash can because trash day isnt until NEXT thursday! They live on SEVERAL acres and had thought of taking it out in the woods for the wild animals to eat, but that would be a big job! Hauling that much meat far enough into the woods, then cutting it out of the packages. (and not even sure if that would be a humane thing to do! lol)

Anyone have any ideas??? HELP!!!!!  :please: lol

I have read that meat kept in a deep freeze is good for 2 days if the freezer hasn't been opened.  You might try calling out to the extension office to see what they suggest

 Probablly not....the pound has no way to fix it for the dogs...and raw is not good when a dog is not use to it..makes for very messy floors...
 
IF I had seen this sooner..I might have known someone that could take it...but...

Agree with JAM about calling the extension office but if they had the freezer packed and didn't open it then it should be ok.... it takes a while for stuff to thaw when packed tight. I use this method when we go camping :)
