There are significant educational and historical reasons to have Ohio newspapers from the 1880s to 1920s digitized so researchers can view them online.

But because the Ohio Historical Society, the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the Library of Congress documented them, the rest of us don’t have to worry about that.

We can have fun reading those irresistible papers — among them the Springfield Daily Republic and the Springfield Globe Republic.

The two Clark County papers are among the first 13 Ohio historic newspapers to be put on the Library of Congress Chronicling America website through a $353,069 NEH grant.

To view the papers, visit   http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/

Click on “See All Available Newspapers."

The first installment of Ohio newspapers includes publications from Marion, Perrysburg, Akron, Canton, Mount Vernon, Logan and Marietta, with more editions from Marion and entries from Hillsboro soon to follow.

That will be great to read from.

I will have to figure out what parts to read, maybe remember some dates in history and read around those times.

I don't want to make the mistake that it just looks like to much to read.  :)
