I don't understand why the Prosecutor's office handled the Staats family like they did, it comes across as cold and unforgiving. I don't think Thatcher needs to go, but under his watch, questions and motives with that office have been really unanswered. http://mountvernonnews.com/local/11/07/22/family-outraged-over-deal-no-day-in-court
How were they going to prove who killed Staats.....If a body is found in a septic tank....that doesnt 'prove' you killed that person.you notice he never admitted to shooting Staats...if he had a private attorney for his defense..maybe he wouldnt have even done a plea...maybe they would have gambled on a trial..and the jury may have found him not quilty..because there was no 'proof' he killed Staats.I say again...one can believe something...believe it to be true...but that doesnt give evidence for trial.Quote from: The_Rooster on July 22, 2011, 11:01:45 AMI don't understand why the Prosecutor's office handled the Staats family like they did, it comes across as cold and unforgiving. He doesn't admit to shooting Staats? He admits that there were gunshots, in the scuffle the gun goes off three times, paralyzing Staats. To finish him off, someone had to suffocate him with a plastic bag. Of the three people known to be in the house at the time, John Stidham, wife Cami and the apparent victim here, Raymond Staats.Now... he happened to be found in a septic tank, but that doesn't prove anyone killed Staats? So are you saying he died of being denied air/food and water since he was hanging out in the septic tank? After being shot in the neck? And having a bag placed over his head and suffocated? I dunno, but if I'm shot, I might be willing to try KCH out to maybe stop the bleeding. No he took the same deal that Matthew Hoffman did, gave up the location for a reduced charge, so the family can be at peace. Now if the fight was in the heat of an argument, okay you have a strong case, but by allowing him to die and hiding him in a septic tank is a whole slew of other charges. None of which seemed to get added into the mix. NOT ONE.Quote from: cateyes on July 22, 2011, 11:09:19 AM How were they going to prove who killed Staats.....If a body is found in a septic tank....that doesnt 'prove' you killed that person.you notice he never admitted to shooting Staats...if he had a private attorney for his defense..maybe he wouldnt have even done a plea...maybe they would have gambled on a trial..and the jury may have found him not quilty..because there was no 'proof' he killed Staats.I say again...one can believe something...believe it to be true...but that doesnt give evidence for trial.Quote from: The_Rooster on July 22, 2011, 11:01:45 AMI don't understand why the Prosecutor's office handled the Staats family like they did, it comes across as cold and unforgiving.
