I am not talking about the motives of the teacher, I am talking about the ignorance of the kid.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignorance
Personally, I don't have a problem with Mr. Freshwater having a bible on his desk. My problem is his "refusal" to put it away when school administration asked him. I believe teachers are under contract to the school system, and Mr. Freshwater agreed to abide by the rules and regulations of that school system. The bible even backs up the fact that he should submit to his employer's authority:Romans 13:1"Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God."Mr. Freshwater voluntarily placed himself under the authority of the school district and he needs to fulfill his obligation to them.
Speaking of the school systems, there's a 'rumor' that there's going to be a rally on the square later today in favor of a teacher. Seems he had a bible on his desk, one student saw it and went home and complained, and the school is giving him grief about it.Hope it happens. NO ONE should be able to tell a teacher NOT to have a Bible in his office.
Cover on a bible, hmm I've owned a couple different versions in my 29 years on this planet and never have tried putting a cover on one, hmm. Checked an older family bible we have, nope no cover there either. Better start hiding other historical items and artifacts that do or could have religious significance. Kinda interesting the timing of this new scandal to cover the Board paying a employee for doing nothing.
