Phred, this is about Mr. Freshwater, not Dave Daubenmire.

So what if Daubenmire was at the square as a show of support for Mr. Freshwater.
I would bet that he was there because HE taught at MVHS for several years and was also chastised for his religious beliefs as well.
Also, what does bringing up Daubenmire's son have to do with Mr. Freshwater?  His son was a grown man responsible for his own actions when he was convicted.

Daubenmire was standing right there next to him.  I'd bet a dollar to a donut that Daubenmire was the first one to contact the media.  Daubenmire always has taken advantage of anything that makes it seem like Christians are being persecuted by Mount Vernon, when its not the case.

My daughter called me after she got on the bus. About half of the students on the bus had bibles, the ones
that didn't dressed differently then they would have, ( good clothes,,church clothes ). All saying how they
were supporting Mr Freshwater.

I don't really care WHO contacted the media, but I am glad they did.  Mr. Freshwater IS being persecuted for his religious beliefs.

I dropped my daughter off at the pick up / drop off area and there was a camera crew with their camera pointed at the middle school from NBC.

Announcements - April 17
FCA tomorrow morning will be at 7:00 in the choir room. Pastor Finnell will be the speaker.

I say let him keep the Bible and get rid of the school board and superintendent.

Last night my daughter received a text message that was being sent to all the high school kids, asking them to bring a bible to school tomorrow to show support. My daughter will be. My daughter has been raised with Christian beliefs. At this time she is 17 yrs. old and spreading her wings. She is not sure if she completely believes in Christianity or not. I don't force her, I encourage her to research religions. I am very proud of the fact that even though she is not sure of her own beliefs she is willing to help support this teacher!

If this teacher had any other book on  his desk we would not be hearing anything! He had a bible on his desk!! He was not preaching to the children in his class, or making them read the bible! Its his choice of reading material! Maybe he reads his bible during his lunch!  I am really blown away that this is even an issue!

yesterday Danny's Auto Center had a sign out front saying something along the lines of if the bible gets tossed, so should the board.

please know that i'm paraphrasing here, can't remember exactly what it said.

I stooped by High Restaurant for my morning Hamburger and fies and saw the NBC 4 truck pulling out. They are on the way to the middle school to cover it.

I have to ask what the mood would be if this had been a Muslim teacher with a Koran on the desk.

What has come of America when 1 or 2 people file a complaint and all of a sudden it is against the law to say The Pledge of Allegiance, say prayers at lunch or graduation or even have a bible on your desk!

When has it become necessary to cater to the few or 1. Let majority rule! :soapbox:

If it was a Muslim teacher and the Koran we would have every Tom, Dick, and Abdul from the ACLU or their cohorts fighting for it to stay.  Can't wait for this one to hit the national news, I am guessing today something could happen with that.

I think one of the best quotes I heard from an interview was someone who supported removing the bible.  Paraphrasing here, but it was along the lines of "it should be removed so no one is offended by it," why is it they always forget about offending the person who brought it, or offending the people who support it being there.  Offend the masses so one persons feelings aren't hurt.  It's sitting there, its not going to jump up smack you on the head and give you religion.
